A man looking for Shinjuku Station exit 27K since late 2015 has passed away near exit 46E.

Michael Leggart tragically missed exit 27K in early 2017 by just one wrong turn.

The 42-year-old managed to stay alive on wild berries and onigiri bought from convenience stores with yen earned from begging.

Police failed to ask Leggart for his gaijin card as his small face was hidden behind sunglasses and a long beard, allowing him to overshoot his tourist visa by 34 months.

“We ignored him because we thought he was just a local homeless guy,” said Shinjuku police spokesman Naoto Ryotaka.

Michael Leggart is survived by his eight illegitimate “half” children.
